We really need to pace the frontier on operating systems and browsers, we can't let it fall into the wrong hands.

Yeah it looks like someone thinks they're "hacking" Tesla when really it's hitting volunteer IPs.

Asked people what during install? From my perspective this should have never been designed this way. I understand if you're a PM, but those engineers should've known better, Chinese or not.

As for the ion cannon (signed and notarized apps) people do talk about this and question it. Apple's infamous walled garden. Europe is trying to fix this with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and the USA is trying to fix this with the right to repair.

But you have to admit, in this instance with Zoom, it was used for a just purpose. Apple protected end-users against bad code from Zoom, which from your post, seemed complacent.

Why? They’re the only ones giving out their models for free at the frontier?

I don’t understand the “need” when you’re benefiting the public good?

They use a lot of compute providers now, but they use Cloudflare for their networking

Kinda like code reviews these days

I’m assuming the same way Mozilla was bought by the industry. Indirectly through a network of interests.

At least I'd be in control of model quality vs. when Anthropic decides to randomly drop the quality of their offering

GitHub Quarter Evolved

what if the fun for them is the game engine? because game devs are customers too, it's technical product dev.

their stated goal is to become a self-sustaining indie game dev. They fail because instead of shipping a game they spent time making an engine and then running out of funds an having to get job not making their own stuff.

If their stated goal was to make a game engine then sure. That wasn't their stated goal.

i see. thanks for the context.
